Verse to remember: "For the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 6:23
To say I am a Christian means: I have become a member of God’s family, the church, by a second birth, which is a spiritual birth. This birth is often called "being born again." I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty." 2 Corinthians 6:18,
Q. How can I be born again?
Admit I am a sinner: "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23; See Romans 6:23;
Believe that Jesus died to pay for my sin. "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16;
Confess my wrong doing and the sin of ignoring Him and ask Him to forgive me and come into my heart: "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." 1 John 1:9
To say I am a Christian means: I have been saved from the power of Satan to control my life and take me to hell. "The thief (Satan,Devil) comes only to steal and kill and destroy: I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full." John 10:10
To say I am a Christian means: As a member of God’s family I have begun a personal relationship with God my Father, and Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit has come to dwell inside me, giving me the power I need to overcome every problem. "Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him and he with me." Revelation 3:20; "Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God." John 1:12; "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you." Acts 1:8
To say I am a Christian means: Because Jesus Christ’s ultimate goal for me is to become just like Him, I try to follow His example in all I do. "Until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ." Ephesians 4:13 Look at it this way: What one person in the world do you most admire and want to be like? What things would you have to do to become like that person? You would want to learn as much about him/her as you could. You would want to spend as much time as you could with him/her so you could imitate that person.
When we become a Christian (follower of Christ) we have such love for Him that we want to learn as much as we can about Him by reading His Book(Bible), and spending as much time as we can with Him(talking to Him and listening to him and being with His family) so we can become like him.
To say I am a Christian means: As a member of God’s family I am entitled to all the wealth of His promises and eternity in heaven when I die. "He has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption of the world caused by evil desires." 2 Peter 1:4 "Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am." John 14:1-3
To say I am a Christian does NOT mean I must belong to a particular denomination. It does NOT mean I must dress a particular way, and it does NOT mean I must worship a particular way.
