Derek is confused. He's making out his school schedule for next semester and can't make up his mind what he wants to do with his life. What subjects should he take? Football is his passion, but he doesn't have the size to make it to the pros. Dad wants him to join him as his cross-country team driver on his Freightliner Classic, but he can't stand the thought of leaving home. Mom wants him to get into a good trade, like building or something. He likes working with wood. Sis says he should talk to God about it and find out what He wants. But how can he know what God wants?
Read Psalm 139:13-18. Here we learn that as soon as we were conceived God had a plan for all the days of our lives, and they were written in His book!! How incredible. But how can we know how we are supposed to live out those days?
Read Jeremiah 29:11. God's thoughts toward us are of peace and to give us a future and a hope.
Read Ecclesiastes 12:1. God wants us to remember Him while we are young and strong.
God is the Man With The Plan . Here is the four step plan:
Read 2 Peter 3:9 God wants me to be saved and have a relationship with Him. (See "Do You Know Your ABC's?" in the Youth Section.)
Read John
10:10. God wants to give me an abundant life.
Read Colossians
3:23. God has given me talents, skills and passions to be used as if I were using them for Him. ( On a piece of paper write your talents or special skills and those things you really want to learn to do: Suggestions: sports, modeling, acting, singing, math, science, writing, hunting, desire to help others, friendliness, etc.)
Read 2 Corinthians 5:17 & 20. God wants me to be His representative as I use these gifts to spread the good news about Jesus and make my world a better place. Write down ways you could use your gifts to do what God wants. Example: Friendliness--since I make friends easily, I can find people who have no friends and be a friend to them. Once they know I am truly their friend, they will listen to what I say about the good news that Jesus wants to be their best Friend.
Pray: Dear God, Because I am only human I can't possibly know every step You want me to make. But if I ask, You will show me how to make the right choices according to Your plan for my life. So I am asking you now to guide me in my decisions. If I follow Your urgings I know it will be best for me because Your thoughts toward us are for good and not evil. Thank You for Your help. Amen
Come back and see us!
